Your Level Application Support Lead apprenticeship programme is effectively split into two parts. These can be described as the On Programme Assessment (with Velocity Academy) and the End Point Assessment(with BCS). Around 80% of your apprenticeship will be completed with Velocity Academy and the final 20% will be completed with BCS. The easiest way to understand this, is to relate your apprenticeship to learning how to drive a car. When you learn to drive a car, you spend the majority of your time with your driving instructor (In this case, Velocity Academy is the Driving Instructor). Then you come to your final assessment and this is completed by an external driving assessor (In this case, BCS would be the End-Point Assessor).

Applications Support
Within this module you will learn about the role of an applications support lead. You will gain an awareness of how your role fits into stakeholders wider technology environment. We will explore multidisciplinary teams and the interfaces with other areas of the organisation

Digital Legislation
A fundamental area of an Application Support Lead's role is a firm understanding of digital legislation. In this module you will explore data legislation such as GDPR and Data Protection Act and Application Service legislation such as Malicious Communications Act and Copyright.

Data for Application Support
Data plays a huge role in the running of a business, non-less in the role of an Application Support Lead. In this module you will gain a thorough understanding of data, data anlalysis and the ethics of data.

Digital Project Management and Lifecycles
In this module you will learn the principles and processes of the systems lifecycle, for example ITIL. Knowledge will be gained in change and release management processes and how to effectively plan and implement a system or application. An understanding of the Agile project management principle will be covered.

Defects and Testing
This module is dedicated to monitoring defects and appropriate testing.The distinction between the root cause of a defect and its effects will be covered and also the principles of testing methodologies. The role of software testing and regression testing will be covered.
