Your Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship programme is effectively split into two parts. These can be described as the On Programme Assessment (with Velocity Academy) and the End Point Assessment(with Active IQ). Around 80% of your apprenticeship will be completed with Velocity Academy and the final 20% will be completed with Active IQ. The easiest way to understand this, is to relate your apprenticeship to learning how to drive a car. When you learn to drive a car, you spend the majority of your time with your driving instructor (In this case, Velocity Academy is the Driving Instructor). Then you come to your final assessment and this is completed by an external driving assessor (In this case, Active IQ would be the End-Point Assessor).

On Programme Assessment

Technical knowledge and understanding is assessed on programme through completing work-based assignments. These must be passed before the end point assessment can take place. There are 7 assignments in total within this portfolio for you to complete over the duration of your apprenticeship.

End Point Assessment

The final, end point assessment is completed in the last few months of the apprenticeship. It is based on:

A Knowledge Test – You will undertake a 50 question, 60 minute online multiple-choice test. This should be passed before you can progress on to the portfolio-based interview and project presentation assessments.

A Project Presentation- The project presentation will be your third and final assessment. You will be required to deliver a 10-15 minute presentation, and then take part in a further 10-15 minute question and answer session. The content of the presentation will be either a project that you have completed or a process that you have improved during your apprenticeship.

A Portfolio Based Interview - The portfolio-based interview is a 30-45 minutes assessment in which you answer questions asked by your Active IQ independent assessor. The content for the interview is based on the Portfolio of Learning.

A Portfolio of Evidence – A portfolio of evidence will be submitted as supporting evidence for your End Point Assessment. This will cover all of the required criteria needed to meet the Business Administrator Standard.

An independent assessor will assess each element of the end point assessment and will then decide whether to award successful apprentices with a pass, a merit or a distinction
